Andrew Schwartz was born in 1987 in New York City and grew up in Rochester, NY. He received a BFA with concentrations in painting and sculpture from Cornell University in 2010 and an MFA in painting from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in 2016. Recent exhibition venues include The Weather Station (Lafayette, IN); Ortega y Gasset Projects (Brooklyn, NY); and The Painting Center (New York, NY). Schwartz has shown his work at Deanna Evans Projects (New York, NY); D.D.D.D. (New York, NY); Drawing Rooms (Jersey City, NJ); MoCA Long Island (Patchogue, NY); Massey Klein Gallery (New York, NY); Morgan Lehman Gallery (New York, NY); Geoffrey Young Gallery (Great Barrington, MA); Fashion Institute of Technology (New York, NY); and NARS Foundation (Brooklyn, NY); among others. His paintings have been discussed on Yale University Radio with Praxis Interview Magazine. Schwartz has lectured at institutions including Cornell University, Pratt Institute, Fordham University, and Purdue University. He is the recipient of an NES Artist Residency in Skagaströnd, Iceland, and was a Summer Artist in Residence at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. The artist lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
